I agree - Everytime I watch the news I'm very much disturbed by how it is delivered. When I can stay up late enough, I watch on PBS the BBC world news - The viewpoint is not that much different than american, but at leat the delivery is not sensationalized and they cover many events that are not covered on the american news.
As far as not covering protests and anti-war demonstrations,that trend happened early on. Did you know that there there were more demonstrations in the 70's than in the 60's? Many people are under the impression that it was the reverse, as demonstrations received front page media coverage in the 60's. But by the 70's political activism had been relegated to the back page if covered at all.
