Ginger Says (to Barking Spider)...As She Gets Up Off The Couch:
" I would wager
your age to be about 22 or 23?"
Yes. But we know YOUR age.
YOU ARE FROM THE 1600s!
(Travels back in time to the 1600s. Setting - a mansion. A 13 year old Ginger and a lowly servant disguised as a superficial dandy appear.)
Rich Man: So how do you spend your time, dear?
Ginger: Oh, doing nothing really.
Rich Man: I admire the card you gave me upon my entrance to your mansion. The way you dotted the letter "i" with hearts is wonderful!
Ginger: Yes, really! Don't you think it gives the letter "i" a certain passion?
Rich Man: Oh yes!
Ginger: And don't you think my pink ribbons compliment the pink ink I used to dot the i's with hearts?
Rich Man: Oh really! It's brillliant! You should be a poet!
Ginger: Yes, I write from time-to-time.
Rich Man: Do you sing?
Rich Man: Do you study?
Rich Man: Oh you do all the right things!
Rich Man: Would you recite some verse? Some of your own?
Ginger: Very well. (ahem)
seems to run rampant in that age group'
meanwhile, I nourish myself with soup.
Rich Man: Oh how clever! What does it mean?
Ginger: The first line I anticipate saying in the future. Perhaps to scold young children who think they know too much.
Rich Man: How honest! Honesty is the best education.
Ginger: And education isn't complete with a good meal, like soup. So while they pretend to know anything worthwhile, I will nourish myself on soup. I will actually have the strength to go on learning. And notice how I said "nourish" in my verse? It implies that what "specialness" the children have doesn't have the benefits of my soup?
Rich Man: Brilliance! Some day I envision your words will be read far and wide! I can see them published! Published on a massive print! Somewhere that all know-nothing teenagers and fearful adults can read them! Somehow your words will make it across continents! Words which will banish the intellectual pithe of the day!
Time has been so kind to reveal it's fortunes.
You're so inspiring, Ging. Some silly verse for the ocassion:
Ginger, internet princess.
You taught us your business.
Oh. I think I see green.
Doesn't that "Oh" sound so...inspired?
