bubblegum punk/occult crossover

It was a reference to the Blondie record of the same name...which is a kind of love song via table tapping and all of that, if i remember rightly. You're right to be aghast at the weird level of contention my mentioning of Valentine's book inspired...i'm not even sure what the replies are saying, or not saying. If others don't see any connection between these figures and concepts and Hell, or indeed punk in general, then they're missing something. One thing that Valentine's book is essential for is dispelling the notion that the Occult = Crowley, rather than what it actually denotes: hidden things. Occult being a derivation of occluded etc... This is why it is possible to have an interest in the occult without having to invoke the name of the tedious beast Crowley (i have to admit that irritated the piss out of me). Once more on the Richard Hell forum, as one door opens, several others slam shut. Pity. Read the bloody book maybe... |
