Bob Quine was a scintillating musician. When we peruse "top 20 guitarists" lists in the magazines, we know they are all as inconsequential as the people who voted for them. It's incredible that Bob thought he was a lesser guitarist than Lou Reed, as I thought he gave Lou's career a leg up with the blue mask,better than the white one!
The only time I heard Richard and Bob live was in Edinburgh, around 1979 i think, supporting Elvis Costello playing for an audience who were clearly pissed at having to wait through a support group whilst awaiting the spectacled one. I thought they were fab, only reason for being there.But did he really think so little of Steve Jones...?
