You're right. Richard made some slight changes from the original version of that Thunders obituary when he published it in Hot and Cold. The original did say: "He could definitely be a scumbag. I remember when we started the Heartbreakers and first gigged at CBGB's how I found him stealing cases of beer from outside the dressing room. That was not cool; the club owner had always been good to the bands." Hell says he decided it was petty to bring up that kind of thing. The piece is already fairly "detached" and unromantic about Johnny, and he didn't want to hit below the belt. Johnny's not around to defend himself after all.
