My friend Mike DeCapite once noted that a lot of poets seem to copy Patti Smith's tone and rhythm when reading,
but I once heard a waitress in the diner beneath my old apt. on St. Clair Avenue in Cleveland (used for diner sequences in "American Splendor" movie), talking to a customer using that same delivery. Makes you think, huh?
