Destiny of the daleks...

Took me a long time to like Destiny Street, but once I got there, I REALLY liked it. I think one version came out with sleevenotes from Hell about what a mess he was in when he made it (too drug-sick to make some of the sessions, so phoned in telling Quine and the other chap 'lay down more guitars'!). But it has this quality you don't find in records made by healthier bands. (See also: Baby's Got A Gun by the Only Ones). Sometimes, just sometimes, a sense of delapidation does make for an interesting album. That said, I'd rather have my rock artists in reasonably good health, nobody needs to OD for my amusement. (Well, maybe on a bad day, but the people I have in mind rarely oblige).
Anyhow, I recall at the end of the eighties, somebody in Sounds magazine nomimated DS as one of his top ten albums of that decade. I wish I could recall who it was tho... it may have been Mike Watt now I think of it?
