You're right Geraldine -- Hell took out a paragraph from his Johnny eulogy as it originally appeared in Melody Maker when he published it in Hot and Cold. (But the piece appeared in the magazine in May 1991--not in that April issue you turned up further down in the thread.) Richard felt like there was no need to dwell excessively on Johnny's more dubious side for preservation in a book. I found the paragraph:

He could definitely be a scumbag. I remember when we started the Heartbreakers and first gigged at CBGB's how I found him stealing cases of beer from outside the dressing room. That was not cool; the club owner had always been good to the bands. Then there was how after I left the group he tacked the entire band's names as songwriters on the number which had become their anthem, "Chinese Rocks," even though the song had been entirely and exclusively written by Dee Dee Ramone and me.
