According to Chris Saliewicz' book, Strummer once had an estate agent round to value his flat and ended up doing the nasty with her while evaluating the master bedroom. Announced to his mates later: 'Most of us have been ****ed by estate agents! But how many can say they've *88eed the estate agent!' Well quite. He certainly moved fast. Years later, a UK agent with a particularly dubious reputation (there was a tv doc by an undercover journo about their double dealings not so long ago), decorated their fleet of minis with psuedo-punk 'London Calling' type livery. Just shows how cynically culture gets co-opted into the mainstream here.

Pippi and Butcherbirds were two swedish girls and a drummer who I think might have ended up playing with Shane McGowan after that, I could be confused about that tho. I have an idea they were named after those Pippi Longstocking books. The bassist was quite tall, so would indeed have had long stockings. But anyway, I think Strummer was into 'em.
