Axe the Guesses, Mme!

Live Rock and Roll requires ALL your senses, not just a slavish devotion to a seance through your ears?
That's why Richard Hell was all ways problematic as a live performer, essentially he was too self aware & diffident and approached the stage ambiguously, not as a performer lost in the moment. That same observatory nature is what enables him to write amazing songs poems and prose.
Meanwhile a bunch of cretins & morons like the DEAD BOYS gave amazing live shows because it was all they knew?
The combination of Hell and the Dead Boys is best realized in Lou Reed who gives wildly uneven performances dependant on what kind of mood he's in?
His Live CD Take No Prisoners is a must have . . . purely for the between song rants not the musical performances but generally you want musicians to shut up and show their "wares" within the context of their songs?
Nostalgia is glorious, Mme, but not a cure-all
