Rather an arbitrary view, I must say.
Hell had every bit of substance Verlaine did, and more. He
was the better writer, and the more multi-talented. You're
forgetting that Verlaine could never have started Television
without Hell. It was initially conceived as a joint project,
involving the input of both. The fact that Richard was not
initially able to play an instrument demonstrates his
importance to the band in other areas. Hell was an artist,
interested in an experience rather than just the music. And
he went on to prove himself talented in many fields.
P.S. I would actually love to see that video. Let me know if
you find it!
