I think Hell actually *did* take a cross-country trip with Roberta Bayley (one of her photos, of a motel [the "Nomad Motel"!]) is on the cover of the UK version of the book.) So I figured Chrissa was a composite of (at least) Bayley & Mercier.

I vaguely remember having some half-assed theory about the girl working in hotel, since her name was Jennifer and (I think) Hell mentions a girlfriend named Jennifer who lives on St. Marks in "Artifact." (Chrissa lived on St. Marks in the book.) I was probably trying to hard with finding "connections" though, since I was an English major in college, you know?

I though "Jack" might have been based on Jake Riviera. That's pretty much based on NOTHING, though, as I don't actually KNOW anything about Riviera other than he's English and he managed Hell for a brief period around the time "Go Now" is set. And "Jake" sounds similar to "Jack." Pretty thin, I know...
