Thanks James, that's a terrific review. Not That Kind Of Girl is one of my favorite stories in Hot and Cold - I read most of it fully expecting that it would end with author's contemplation of the past, not with a funny Wilde-like "long-lost acquaintance" plot twist.
As for lyrics as poetry: I like Lou Reed, but I'm not much for his lyrics without instrumental rhythm. If I wanted poetry, I'll read e.e. cummings or Yates or what have you. If I want music, I'll listen to Lou Reed or Richard Hell. That being said, there are more than a few Hell lyrics that surpass Reed's best efforts, honestly.
