chili cheese cornbread

We're apparently having chili cheese cornbread, and leftover bean soup. Works for me.
Yeah - 3 years ago my friend Julie Powell published a book on Little, Brown, called Julie & Julia, after writing a blog on Salon.com called The Julie/Julia Project, which I think was the more successful thing (I mean, it was a terrific, great read and project, and I don't go in for blogs).
She put me and James in the book as the sort of main subplot, heavily fictionalising me and James, as well as bizarrely exaggerating my and Julie's relationship, in a way that was very irritating. We have been friends since childhood and she's still my friend today, what can I do? It's going to be a bad Nora Ephron film next year. Julie's seen it, now, and wasn't keen (not that she expected to be, really). Our subplot does not appear in the film. I'm very fucking relieved, especially with the notion it would receive a 'Nora Ephron Treatment' on top of Julie's.
Her next book is about butchery, and we're not in it. Meanwhile, some people (agents) claim to be interested in what I am periodically managing to write about my life, in a sort of metafictional, novelish way, since that book happened, and if I can sell it, believe me I bloody well will... |
