Fahrenheit 451

I'm not a real Bradbury fan. My opinion is that he's less a writer than a "plotter," so to say. But that can make for good movies, and there's a lot to like about the film of Fahrenheit 451 by Truffaut. It has a strong -- sad -- atmosphere and Julie Christie and Oskar Werner do well. The scene I recall is the ending, with a group of renegades camping in a glade in the woods, and it's lightly snowing, and they're walking around singly or in pairs memorizing novels (the premise of the book/movie being a future where books are illegal). (That's how I remember the scene, though I might be wrong.) |
